To be fair, I was rewriting my first book (Screw Work Let’s Play) but it was still a pretty intense experience. I spent long days writing in a coworking space and my evenings having dinner and drinks on the beach with the other digital nomads.

F**k Work Let’s Play was published in summer 2020. WHSmith made it business book of the month in all their stores in train stations and airports, starting on the day the government made it pretty much illegal to travel anywhere.

It was a strange year for all of us I guess.

This new book, Crazy Successful, has been gestating since 2008, before I received my book deal for the first book. I had taken a 5-year professional development course in humanistic psychotherapy and I thought that what I’d learned was so interesting that everybody should know it. Why weren’t we taught this stuff at school?

Another driving force for the book is that I’ve spent the last 19 years helping people turn their ideas into businesses, books and brands and I became very interested in the people who succeeded in creating something successful and those that didn’t. I had a unique viewpoint to see the difference between them in their approaches and mindset and I wanted to share this with everyone embarking on a creative or entrepreneurial journey.

The central premise of Crazy Successful is that we’re all a bit more unconventional, weird, flawed, and frankly, crazy then we like to let on - particularly those of us that are writers, creators and entrepreneurs!

And while most of us are desperately trying to smooth off the rough edges of our personality, I couldn’t help noticing that the most successful people are doing the exact opposite: they’re leaning into it.

Crazy Successful will show you how to mine the advantages in your quirks & differences and manage the downsides. Because when you do that, you can finally create something that stands out in our crowded world, whether that’s a book, a business, a podcast, a Substack, a live event, a YouTube channel or something else.
